Update from Capitol Hill – December 22

Congress has passed a massive, $1.15 trillion spending package containing  funding for all federal programs through September 30, 2016. As expected, the measure did not contain a proposal to stop the Administration from issuing the child support notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). Comments on the NPRM are still under review in the administration. The final bill does include a NCSEA-supported measure to permanently extend the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). In the past, Congress extended the EITC on a short-term basis. NCSEA joined 129 other organizations in a letter(http://bit.ly/1Tf3f0x) to the House and Senate supporting the policy.

Members of the House and Senate have headed home and  will return in early January.
