The Assistant Director DAFS is an at-will, Clark County assistant department head position.  This position is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Clark County District Attorney. This position reports directly to and works closely with the Director of DAFS. The Assistant Director is mainly responsible for:

  • The direction and daily oversight of DAFS Operations, specifically overseeing all operational units and teams,
  • Developing and implementing policy and procedure along with operational goals and objectives,
  • Selecting and supervising subordinate supervisors and staff, and
  • Ensuring that operational work performance requirements are being met on a consistent basis.

A typical combination of education and experience would be a bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Science, or other field related to the work and at least six (6) years of full-time administrative and/or professional level experience in one or more elements of a comprehensive child/family support system in a setting directly related to child support issues and regulations, at least three (3) years of which were in a management capacity. Possession of an advanced degree in an appropriate field is desirable.  An equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.The Assistant Director is expected to be an outgoing, innovative, and excellent leader and communicator with a recognizable passion for the mission, vision and work performed by DAFS on behalf of children and families.  The ideal candidate for the position will have a demonstrated track record of achievement in the child support arena, especially in the area of increasing federal performance measure results within an established state or county child support program over time.
